„RADIX“ (2026)
for mezzosopran, flute, violin, viola and bassoon (9')

premiere: 02.07.2026 @ liszt ferenc academy of music, budapest

after discovering erwin lichtenegger's drawings and contributions to root research, they immediately became a great inspiration for this piece. the drawings, combined with musical staves, served as the foundation for a formal structure as well as melodic lines. in addition, I researched scientific texts on roots and came across pliny the elder, who was one of the first to write a large-scale encyclopedia of natural sciences entitled naturalis historia. this compilation of several books was published around 77 AD. parts of paragraphs 127 to 130 in liber XVI / LVI were used for the libretto.

„tauchgang” (2026) for SSSAAA, dancer and fixed media (15’)

premiere: 27.04.2026
@ salurinn kópavogur, iceland

marine biologist angelina ivkic was interviewed for this interdisciplinary art work. she talks about everyday life in the reef, her experiences in the water as well as the severe troubles of sea life as part of her phd thesis “red sea coral reefs: a pleistocene-recent comparison” [FWF Project P 31592-B25 ~ more information]

the crocheted coral is inspired by the works of christine and margret wertheim. the interaction between the coral and the dancer is a symbol and an act of becoming-with with more-than-human beings, as described by donna haraway in her book staying with the trouble.

„ABSORBED” (2026) for trumpet, violin, double bass and prepared piano (22’)

premiere: 27.04.2026
@ salurinn kópavogur, iceland

„fluten“ (2022-2024) for academy singers - SSAATTB (9')

premiere: 21.09.2024
@ konzerthaus vienna

based on a text about tree lichens from the book ‘arts of living on a damaged planet’, published by anna l. tsing, I wanted to investigate the persistent way of life of these creatures. lichens can survive long periods of drought with ease. when water is present, they absorb a lot of liquid and expand in size. fluten is a tribute to creatures that came before us, are with us and will outlive us.

„STABAT MATER - stab our mother?“ (2024) for cantando admont - SSAATTBB (7')

premiere: 17.10.2024
@ mariendom linz

youtube

composers throughout the centuries have chosen the form of the stabat mater to express pain. when I realise how we deal with this world, there is enough pain within me to write a stabat mater. I transferred the pictorial narrative of mary's pain, triggered by the journey of her son jesus, to earth. a planet that gives and nourishes us unconditionally, like a mother, a parent, an important carer. does the earth or the plants feel pain as well?
